      The quaint community of Nokomis is conveniently located about 15 minutes south of Sarasota and is part of the greater Venice area. It is a thriving Gulf-side community with 14 miles of white sandy beaches, once known for having more cows than people. Still a quiet rural area, Nokomis is home to more than 3,500 residents who enjoy fabulous waterfront living in close proximity to the arts, culture, entertainment and recreation of Sarasota. Nokomis has good schools, friendly people and homes and condos that are not quite as costly as Sarasota.

    Like Osprey, Nokomis offers numerous recreational diversions including swimming, bird watching, horseback riding, tennis and golf, but fishing enthusiasts are truly in their element in Nokomis. The area is renowned for its marine, fresh water and deep-sea fishing. The area offers many meticulously maintained parks, including Knight Trail Park in Nokomis.

    Nokomis Beach, located on Casey Key, has fine white sand and the gulf waters are sparkling clear. If you look for sharks teeth on Nokomis beaches, chances are that you will find some. Nokomis Beach is a prime fishing area. North Jetty Park, a surfer’s Mecca, is also located on the southern tip of Casey Key.

    The area is known for its spectacular waterfront homes nestled on miles of shoreline on the Gulf of Mexico. A strong Spanish and Mediterranean influence is evident in the architecture of its upscale homes and estates.
